Peter Spencer
Law PracticePeter Spencer was called to the Bar of British Columbia in 1975. Peter maintains a successful trial and appellate practice in a broad range of civil and commercial areas, including sports, commercial, tort and estate litigation, insolvency and bankruptcy, professional negligence matters and real estate and construction disputes. Professional ActivitiesPeter is an active member of the Vancouver legal community. He has been a member of the civil litigation and insolvency sections of the Canadian Bar Association and has served as a course instructor in several continuing legal education seminars and in the bar admission course. He has also volunteered his time as a volunteer board member and recent President of the Lawyers' Inn. He has, perhaps most notably, served as a director and past Chairman for over 22 years of a major non-profit organization devoted to helping people in the downtown Vancouver eastside. LL.B. 1973 Personal BackgroundPeter Spencer was born and grew up in Vancouver where he went to school at Point Grey Secondary with his late friend and law partner, Rob Gourlay. He attended the University of Washington in Seattle, majoring in Political Science and competing for the Huskies track team in the long and triple jump. Upon graduation from UW, he returned to Vancouver and was admitted to the University of British Columbia from which he subsequently graduated with his law degree. Peter has been active in both the local community and at the high school level coaching basketball and baseball. For several years following his retirement from active competition, he coached track and field at the club level, working with several nationally and internationally ranked athletes. He attended two Canadian Olympic team training camps as a guest coach. Peter's recreational time is consumed on a small ranch he owns near the Nicola Valley in the BC interior. |
